1972 Fairey Swordsman

Price £75,000 inc Vat

United Kingdom

The Fairey Swordsman is certainly one of the most desirable and collectible classic fast motor yachts ever built. "Slipstream of Beaulieu" is a lovely example of the 33' aft-cabin model. Built in 1972, she went through a major refit in 2010/11, including hull and engine refurbishment, new stainless steel fuel and water tanks and the fitting of, amongst over items, trim tabs, a water-maker, an inverter-charger and generator. She is, in short, in great condition and extremely well equipped.

She is reluctantly for sale as her owner now lives abroad.

Slipstream of Beaulieu has been owned by the present owners, a family of 5 for 14 years. She was purchased when the acquisition of 3 young boys meant a reluctant switch from sail to power. Ownership was originally undertaken as a 5 year project, but the family became converted. Over the course of 2010/2011 She was the subject of a major Renovation/Refurbishment – key work undertaken was to identify and rectify any structural defects or weaknesses, Both engines, originally fitted in 2001, were stripped out and completely overhauled and the exhausts were enlarged and run out under the hull to reduce both operating temperature and noise, a completely new instrumentation panel was fitted and the engine room was fitted with a remote controlled extinguishing system. The old fibreglass fuel and water tanks were stripped out and replaced with custom made stainless tanks and the electrical system was completely re-wired by a professional marine electrician. Slipstream was also upgraded to support the needs of a growing family going on extended cruises with the addition of a watermaker, a high-power sinewave inverter/charger and battery management system and a small generator, all fitted by a specialist supplier. With a clean hull She is capable of 26 knots and will happily cruise at between 17-22 knots. She is a much-loved boat, well cared for and exceptionally well equipped. Anybody looking for a Fairey Swordsman with the capability to support longer distance cruising, or just creature comforts such as coffee machines that work at anchor, will not find a better equipped Fairey Swordsman. The current owners have been posted overseas for the last 3 years with no prospect of returning shortly – their 3 teenage boys have also evolved into kitesurfers, dinghy instructors etc. So with much regret they can no longer justify having her lying idle.

Outboard – 4HP Mercury and 6 man liferaft available by separate agreement. The vessel is fitted for davits and the wiring already exists for these to be electrically operated. The davits are not included in the sale.
